Contact Forms

I’ve now added contact forms to both QuickProxy and AusKreedz pages. This will allow users of either to easily get in touch with me directly, to provide either feedback or bug reports/issues. I much prefer this over advertising my email address (which is different for both projects, allowing me to differentiate between the issues), as no matter how much you try to obscure the address it always seems to get farmed using some method and then passed onto whichever mailing lists. Google does have a fantastic spam filter, which does filter most of this out, but anything that I can do to minimize this is great. =)

I really love QuickProxy. Small, sweet, does one job well. However, I have a request. Can QuickProxy be made to automatically Reload the Automatic Configuration URL’s file when switching to that config? My large company’s network admins live in a glass house and change the config URL’s wpad.dat file whenever they like and don’t tell anyone. What I need is a quick way to get the config URL’s dat file reloaded. What would be ideal is if QuickProxy can be made to automatically reload the URL dat when QuickProxy switches to that configuration. Thanks for the efficient add-in and for considering my request.

I’ll have a look into this for you, but unfortunately I’m not too sure how that proxy configuration works in depth. Hopefully I can sort something out to do this for you.

    Great plugin…

I think a nice option would be to have a list of IP ranges that use proxy and a list that doesn’t use proxy. At work I have 10.1.*.* range, at home I have 192.168.*.* range. If such option is used, at start of firefox, proxy should be switched on or off automatically depending on the IP range. Of course if such option is disabled the behaviour should be as is provided now…..

I’ll have a look into this functionality once the the issue with the latest version has been corrected, but it depends on what I find for whether I’ll proceed with this. I’d prefer to limit any automation of the extension to only the simplest of things, as I wish to keep this extension as lightweight as possible.

When you will be releasing quickproxy for 3.5b4?

    • Ozzie says:

I’m currently testing a release for 3.5b4, although this is taking a bit longer than expected due to the bugs that have been reported in the current release.

    Hi,
One “bug” (or quirk, at least) in firefox is that its rules for bypassing the proxy are flawed, or at least they do not work with my company’s set-up. They seem to be:
    1) See if the domain name is in the list of those that should avoid using the proxy.
    2) If so, do a DNS look-up to find the IP address & connect; else use the proxy.

What I need is a switch to behave a bit more like Internet Explorer (and it pains me greatly to admit that MS have it better than FF!):
    1) Do a local DNS lookup to locate the IP address.
    2) See if the IP or domain name is in the list of those that should avoid using the proxy.
    3) If so, connect; else use the proxy.

Obviously this is dependent on the proxy switch being turned on.

If this is something you could consider for a future project you would be making a big improvement to quite a lot of people’s experience of firefox and proxys!

I’ve had this request a couple of times before, although at the moment I’m not sure how I’d be able to implement this, as this will require quite a bit more editing than what QuickProxy currently does.

I can’t get connexion to a proxy by using “Quick proxy”
ie I have “naviguer.ca” as a proxy, I gave those parameters to “Quick proxy” under Firefox:

    proxy HTTP/ http://www.naviguer.ca port 80
    Proxy SSL:75.55.146.175 port 80
(i got this IP by a ping test)
(i got the port with “CurrPort”
No proxy for :localhost, 127.0.0.1, 75.55.146.175

1.When google is open, then i start “proxy mode” by the push button of “Quick proxy”
2.I try to go on a site (ie.mininova)
    3.And i got a “ERROR page”

a similar situation occur with other proxy ( ie “anonymouse”)
    Thank yo for your help

I just installed QuickProxy,it works, but could you please allow users to put the Icon where they want… I would like to put it along the top of the browser, not the bottom right corner. Thank You.

This is something that I’ve intended to implement for a while, so it is in the pipeline to allow users to be able to do this. Unfortunately I haven’t had the free time to investigate the cause of this, due to bugs that have cropped up, or other issues with my separate projects, which have prevented me adding as many new features as I would have liked.

    Dear Sir,
I have installed the Quick Proxy Add-On however there is no QP Icon to found anywhere.
i reinstalled the program with the same result. I can go into the toolbox and pull down the
manage add-ons option and access the preferences for the program so I know it is installed but there is no sign of it or that it is in fact working. Can anyone assist me with this problem.

    Thanks
