Firefox 3.5 and QuickProxy

First I want to say thanks again for all the positive feedback I’ve receieved for this extension. Development is still active for QuickProxy, and I’m hoping to release a 3.5 compatible version soon. As the last version was rushed and contained bugs that could have been avoided, I didn’t want to repeat those steps with this release. We have almost completed testing the extension internally, and are hoping to have the last known issue corrected soon, with a new version being submitted to Mozilla for approval on Friday.

I am so happy to read that there will be a QP release for FirFox 3.5. I really liked using it in previous version of FireFox and since it doesn’t work with 3.5 (yet) I tried some other and they suck. Can’t wait and keep up the good work.

  16. Brooko says:

Really miss QP now it’s not there. Can’t wait for the 3.5 compatible version!

    can’t wait, too 🙂

  18. Alex says:

Did they changed so much in proxy settings in FF 3.5? Is there a workaround to test the old version with FF 3.5 or to beta test a new version?

    Hi,
thank you very much for this news! I’m using Quickproxy when I’m browsing with my university’s internet access points, ’cause they want me to use a proxy.
Looking forward to the 3.5-version’s release, keep up the good work!!

Great to hear you’ll be publishing the 3.5 compatible version! Had to upgrade to 3.5 because of major instability issues that were even more important for me to fix than being able to use your great add-on. Looking forward to be able to use your plugin again soon.

  27. Shane says:

Great news, I was actually considering going back to 3.0 I rely on QuickProxy so often.

  29. Hello from Paris
I use QuickProxy a lot and
I would like to know if the latest version of QuickProxy compatible with FireFox 3.5 has been released and where can I downlooad this new version ?

    Best regards

    • Ozzie says:

      Hi Willy,

If you check out the latest post on here, that should give you all the details about the latest QuickProxy release which is compatible with FireFox 3.5.

  30. Paolo says:

    Bad move.

I think the majority of people, like me, will not wait for your bug fixing phase and just move to a different proxy switch add-on.
e.g. i’ve found Multiproxy Switch 1.30, which does the same job.

Next time you should release things earlier even if there is some bugs, or all users will move to something else.

Currently QuickProxy has been waiting almost 2 weeks for approval for 3.5, and it’s definitely not bug free. My major concern was the reports that I was getting about QuickProxy forcing the proxy on after being installed, no matter what people did with it (https://ozzie.io/2009/04/Ozzie/16/quickproxy-20090328-known-bug/#comments). As much as I didn’t want to release it late to the users of QuickProxy, I feel releasing something that didn’t behave as they needed it to would have driven more people away than releasing a new version 3 days late.

If people do move away to a new extension that’s their choice, but I’d prefer users to know that they are updating to a solid version with QuickProxy.

  31. Hi Ozzie
Sorry but my english is really basic and I don’t understand your answer !

You wrote “check out the latest post on here, that should give you all the details about the latest QuickProxy release which is compatible with FireFox 3.5 ” I read carrefully all the post and I didn’t find any indication on where I can download a QuickProxy version compatible with FireFox 3.5 I am very sorry !
    Best regards

  32. Peter says:

Thanks for the upgrade. QuickProxy was the reason why I didn’t update immediately when FF 3.5 became available.

  33. Rai says:

Thanks, it helps me a lot. The proxy of my job sucks and i cant let it always on.

  34. Chris Le Pelley says:

    Hello

Thanks for that nice and simple extension.Fast and efficient. No need to be more complicated !

Unfortunately when updating from Firefox 3.5 to 3.51 today, the update desactivated QuickProxy! What a shame. Do you know, approximately, when quickproxy will work with Firefox 3.51 ?

I will turn back to an older version of Firefox if QuickProxy doesn’t work soon with V 3.51!

Go on with your fine job . Thanks again

  35. eric says:

I installed this plugin, but I am at a loss how to use it. It’d be helpful for newbies if you could post some instructions for configuring the addon. Thanks
